So, you want a ONE PAGE up while your site is being built?
March 24, 2015
I often have clients request a ONE PAGE, LANDING PAGE, or COMING SOON PAGE installed while we are building there website. I think this is a great idea! There are different levels of information you can have with this one page. Let’s start with the MUST HAVES needed to get this site up…
You must have:
- A domain name and ACCESS to that domain name: Whatever URL you want the one page on, I need to have complete access to. What does this mean? If you have your domain registered at Godaddy, I need your Godaddy log in. If a previous web designer secured your domain name, you still need to have that access. You need to contact them to transfer the domain or ask them for access to it.
- A hosting account for the page and ACCESS to that hosting account: All websites must be placed on hosting. You may have another hosting account that we can piggy back this one page on, or you need to purchase hosting. I can assist with this set up if you don’t have hosting. Otherwise, I need your hosting account log in information (to your main account, not JUST FTP or CPANEL access).
- The exact message you want on your ONE PAGE: I suggest keeping it as simple as possible with very little styling (no under construction graphics!). We don’t want to set a tone that might not be in line with the site we are designing. Your logo and a message that a new site is coming and for more information… all your contact info. In any case, send it exactly as you want it to appear via email.
Once this is received, we can get started on getting this page up. In some cases, I will be installing WordPress along with the one page. If we are already in the design process with your site, it will be a simple HTML page.
Please email me if you have any questions!
THIS IS FOR HUMOR ONLY – never post one of these!
