The sun still rose in the east this morning, and it will set in the west.

Having been on the winning side of elections for the last two cycles, it sure sucks to lose. But, I guess it’s true that with age comes wisdom, because I’m looking for the bright side, knowing that all things pass. Yes, I’m isolated in a blue state in an urban city that weathered the last economic downturn with less pain that the rest of the country. Maybe that’s a false sense of security, but, I refuse to say the sky is falling. I don’t like this outcome, but I won’t let it get me down. Here are 10 things I plan to do post-election:
- Work my ass off building websites that help small businesses keep their families afloat. I love what I do and I am grateful to work with wonderful customers.
- Get hours of my life back by avoiding cable news. Maybe for the next 4 years. I should have done this long ago. Adios, Joe and Mika!
- Spend more time exploring my beautiful blue state of Washington. See the rain forest, visit coast. See it while it still exists!
- Enjoy the fact that my nearly 87 year old Dad is giddy. For now. 🙂 I like to see him happy.
- Remind myself all that I am grateful for and give up what I can’t control. This takes practice!
- Pick a cause I care for and donate. One that I care about will surely be under attack soon. They will need help.
- Stop tolerating racism. No more excuses. Be choosy about the time spent with others.
- Never miss Gay Pride! Not only is it a great time but it’s a community that will be facing setbacks. I have too many friends I care about in this community. They deserve respect.
- Make sure I visit New Orleans once a year – listening to jazz and blues with nice people is good for the soul.
- Always vote for an open, positive vision of our country, equal rights, higher wages, empathy & love.
Losing isn’t the end of the world as long as you still have your integrity.
