Things I learned at WordCamp Seattle 2016
WordCamp is a great event to attend. This was my 3rd time to go in my hometown and this time it was downtown. Much closer than at the UW for me. Only a 10 minute drive on a Saturday morning without traffic. I was super excited to hear a Chris Lema keynote for the first time. I have been a follower of his on Twitter for some time. He blogged everyday for two years. Can you imagine? Well, I preach this to my clients to blog, but I walk the walk myself? Time to form a new habit.
What did Chris say that spoke to me?
Just say no. Yes. This is a constant struggle for me as a business owner. Being in BNI has really helped me in this area, but I can always improve.
Another huge tip. My industry changes so fast. If I want to be successful, then I need to be able to see the big picture. I need to focus on the “whole”, and how the “sum is more than the parts”.
Fear of failure can be quite motivating. Just don’t let it ruin your day. Use it.
BOOM. This was it for me. The whole WordCamp. It’s all about habits. Every. Single. Day.
I had this in practice before entering the room. I met a woman that was from my small hometown area in California. By chance, we sat next to each other waiting to enter the keynote. 🙂
Thank you, Chris Lema. I hope you (and your daughter) enjoyed your time in Seattle.
