Domain Registry Of America – A SCAM ALERT for my clients!

If you receive a letter from a company called Domain Registry of America, THROW IT AWAY! I do not register any domain names with this company and this is a total scam!  If you handle your own domain registration, you are also at risk of getting this letter!

They send the forms below to domain owners and ask for a renewal – at a very high price ($35 a year) and you are paying to renew a domain they don’t even hold.  They then instruct you to transfer your domain name to their control.  Domain names should cost you no more than $15 a year.  They send this to you MONTHS before your domain expires!  The website they reference is www.droa.com.

On this WIKIPEDIA page, you can see this referred to as DOMAIN SLAMMING and it mentions this company.

TRASH IT!  If you paid them with a credit card, immediately call your credit card company and ask them to reverse the charge!
